If you appreciate gardens or maybe you just love natural beauty, there are a number of Seneca Lake wineries whose gardens are worthy of a visit alone… and the fact that you can enjoy great wine to boot? It is… in a word (okay, two)… *chef’s kiss*.
So let’s round up the top winery gardens. In no particular order:
Anthony Road Wine Company
While visiting Anthony Road Wine Company, you should definitely plan to spend some time in the garden. They have a variety of fruit trees, herbs, flowers, and of course, grapes. Take a self-guided tour and learn and taste something new.
Atwater Vineyards
Atwater is well known for their stunning lakeview and their gardens are just as gorgeous. From Black Eyed Susan to Russian Sage; Coneflowers and Sedum; they have such a variety of colors and textures, it’s a true feast for the senses.
Prejean Winery
The Prejean Winery tasting room sits tucked back among the vineyards, on the west side of Seneca Lake. The rustic building is surrounded by beautiful butterfly bushes, lavender, and coneflowers. Outside you’ll find plenty of seating on the deck, or venture out to the gazebo, or even grab a seat in their cozy porch swing. Either way, you’ll feel like you’re worlds away. Such peace and beauty.
Lakewood Vineyards
Entering the tasting room at Lakewood Vineyards is like walking through a secret garden. From rose of sharon to unique hydrangea and of course, roses, the scent and sights are something to behold. It’s just a bonus that you can enjoy them from a picnic table or seat on the lawn, too.
Belhurst Castle and Winery
Belhurst Castle and Winery is located at the northern tip of Seneca Lake, just outside of Geneva. The historic architecture and lakefront location provide a quiet escape. You’ll feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Enjoy a glass of wine on the patio or simply stroll the park-like grounds and take in the view.
