It is often said, that wine is a combination of art and science. There is no better place to enjoy both than along the Seneca Lake Wine Trail.
While the natural beauty of the surroundings is art in and of itself, three wineries in particular, showcase art regularly, as a wonderful complement to the glass of Riesling or Cabernet Franc or (insert other great wine here).
If art is among the list of things you enjoy, be sure to visit the following wineries next time you’re on Seneca Lake.
Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars
At Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars on the east side of Seneca Lake, they rotate local artists on display throughout the year. From watercolor to pastels to photography, they showcase many mediums.
The art, views, and wines are first-class at this stunning spot.
Anthony Road Wine Company
Anthony Road Wine Company is a family owned and operated, multi-generational business, started by Ann and John Martini. Son Peter manages the vineyards and daughters Sarah, Liz, and Maeve are involved in the winery.
Ann is an artist at heart and that creativity and talent runs deep at Anthony Road. It makes perfect sense, then, that also on-site you’ll find a beautiful gallery space, where they feature local artists and artisans.
Leidenfrost Vineyards
Leidenfrost Vineyards is another multi-generational winery, founded by John Leidenfrost and since she was old enough to hold pruning shears, daughter Liz has been by his side.
Leidenfrost is well known as a laid back, inviting spot and their rotation of local artists fits right in line with their passion for all things Finger Lakes.
The artistry that goes into making wine is incredible. What better way to enjoy it than by appreciating local art at the same time?
As the saying goes, “Wine is the only artwork you can drink.” (Luis Fernando Olaverri).
