Certainly everybody is invited to this limited series of unique, custom winery experiences, though it has been conceived for passionate, curious fans of wine, winemaking and all that goes into that. Each winery has crafted some kind of unique, or special event or activity for these days.  Every Winemaker Wednesday takes place on the second Wednesday of the given month. These are unticketed events, though additional fees may apply.

Winemaker Wednesdays is really for one kind of person: the type of person that not only loves to drink wine, but adores learning about it, talking to people about it, experiencing it. Certainly everybody is invited to this limited series of unique, custom winery experiences, though it has been conceived for passionate, curious fans of wine, winemaking and all that goes into that. Each winery has crafted some kind of unique, or special event or activity for these days. And the programs may change from one Wednesday to the next.

It is necessary for you to call the winery and make an appointment for these, and at that time you can confirm their offering. The reason an appointment is required, is because many wineries commit one or two members of their senior leadership (owner and/or winemaker or vineyard manager, oftentimes) to conduct the program, and typically those individuals are otherwise often busy in the cellar or out in the vines, and appointments enable them to manage their time best.  While it should go without saying, if you are unable to visit the winery at the scheduled time, please call and let them know promptly, so the winemakers can get back to work!

Effective 1/10/14 the following are initial offerings from many of the participating wineries for 2014: 

Anthony Road Wine Company
Tour and tasting offered at 1pm, 2pm or 3pm. Reservations required, no fee. Tour the production facility, meet our winemaking team and end with a tasting of our wines. Please call to make a reservation.

Glenora Wine Cellars
Come and learn about four different wine making processes as you taste wines on our new Staves and Steel Wine Tour.
Tour our cellar as you get a first- hand view our new concrete egg and learn why using this wine making process is experiencing a renaissance in the United States. Taste wines produced from our oak barrels and stainless steel tanks and finish with an explanation of methode champenoise while sipping our 2003 Brut! Hours 11:00 to 4:00 pm. Tours on the half hour.

Atwater Estate Vineyards
Each Winemaker Wednesday session is $15 per person and needs to be booked at least two days in advance. Each tour will end with a tasting of Atwater’s current wine selections in our tasting room. With five unique experiences to choose from, you just need to pick which one suits you best! Any cancellations need to be made 24 hours in advance of tour.

January 8th: Behind the scenes tour
Let our winemaker lead you through our tank and barrel rooms to experience a behind the scenes view of where the magic happens. Tour to include both barrel and tank samples of current wines in production as well as a quick how to on the wine making process. Quiz our winemaker on any wine related questions. Finish your tour in our tasting room where the staff will pour wine selections from our current list for you.

February 12th: Red Wine for the Heart
Enjoy an experience for the senses in the barrel room. Our winemaker will teach you about different barrel types and the process of aging reds. Samples of our reds from the barrels will be paired with decadent chocolate bites. Finish your tour in our tasting room where the staff will pour wine selections from our current list for you.

March 12th: Riesling Comparison
Let our winemaker lead you through our tank room to experience a behind the scene view. Tour to include a Riesling flight of wine, compare older vintages of Riesling, current bottled Riesling and Riesling tank samples to learn how all elements in one season affect the vintage. Finish your tour in our tasting room where the staff will pour wine selections from our current list for you.

April 9th: Wine and Cheese
Our winemaker will lead you through Atwater’s winemaking facilities for a behind the scene look at winemaking while explaining Atwater’s philosophy and winemaking techniques. Finish your tour in our tasting room where the staff will pour wine selections from our current list paired with local cheeses.

May 14th: From Vine to Wine
Start your experience off with a quick tour of the vineyards to see where our grapes come from. After the vineyard your tour will continue with our winemaker, who will take you on a tour of our winemaking facilities, where he will provide tank samples while describing what is happening in the tank room to date. Finish your tour in our tasting room where the staff will pour wine selections from our current list for you.

Zugibe Vineyards
Enjoy a food and wine pairing with trained oenologist, Fred Zugibe. Fred will describe varietals, winemaking techniques and seasonal influences on the wine. He will also offer select wines from upcoming vintages to see how they are developing in comparison to current vintages. Cost is $5.00, appointment required between 11:00am-4:00pm. Standing Stone Vineyards
January 8 – Barrel Tour
We will tour our tank room, press room and barrel cellar. We will taste a few of our 2013 wines currently in the barrel and finish with a taste of our current wines in our tasting room. Event runs from 11 am – 4 pm, with a tour starting on the hour. Cost is $3 per person and reservations are required as we are limiting each tour to 8 people. February 12 – Ice Wine Pairing
We will pair our Riesling and Gewurztraminer Ice style wines with our eggplant & white chocolate dip. Event runs from 11 am – 4 pm with a tasting starting on every ½ hour. Reservations are not required. Cost is $3 per person

March 12 – Cabernet Sauvignon Vertical
Join us for an hour and help us prepare for our upcoming Cabernet Sauvignon Vertical tasting. We will open several vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon (previously called Pinnacle) and determine what wines we should pour at our event on March 23, 2014. April 9 – Lab School
Join Jess, our assistant wine maker, in the lab and help us get ready for our upcoming bottling run. You will work for 2 hours testing the wines to make sure they are where they need to be before we bottle them. You will also taste through the wines and Jess will share how the 2013 growing and harvest season affected the wines. May 14 – Vineyard Tour & Tasting
We will start the day with a tour of the vineyards. Take a glimpse at the vines look for bud break. The tour will finish in the tasting room, with a tasting of our wines and delicious bread and sauces. The tour and tasting will last about two hours and each tour is limited to 8 people. The tours will be at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. Castel Grisch Winery
The Winemaker, Rick Evans, will present attendees with a series of wine and cheese pairings. $1/person/flight with 4 different flights to choose from, appointment required during their regular business hours.


Miles Wine Cellars-
 Get "down 'n dirty" with Evan Miles! Spend time with Evan sampling wines produced from different areas of their extensive vineyards, enabling you to develop a more nuanced appreciation for terroir (which, among other attributes, pertains to the soil itself). $3 per person (the same as a usual tasting), appointment required, 11am-4pm on each Winemaker Wednesday. 


Three Brothers Wineries & Estates- Guests joining this winery for Winemaker Wednesdays will have the opportunity to tour the cellar and wine making facilities. They will also offer complimentary tastings of their limited release wines in Stony Lonesome Wine Cellars.  Reservations are required at least a day in advance.

January 8
Sit down with one of our winemakers and taste our reds, including a barrel sample of a 2012 wine. =

February 12
A romantic experience! A sit down tasting of our current releases or iced wines, and port with one of our winemakers. They will take time to explain the process of making these special wines and might even pour a tank sample of our 2013 iced wines. 

March 12
How are the vines doing this winter? A member of the vineyard crew will show you how to assess winter damage in some grape varieties, followed by a tasting of the wines made from grapes from those vineyards.

April 9
Our winemaker will pour some barrel samples of the 2013 vintage beside the current releases of those wines, and discuss the difference in the two.

May 14
A 2013 vintage preview with tank samples or recently bottled 2013 wines poured alongside the current release of those varieties.

Chateayu LaFayette Reneau

Wagner Vineyards
In depth tour of the wine production with a barrel tasting or sample from tank and tastings with Laura Lee Wagner or one of our knowledgeable staff. $10/person, and an appointment is necessary by calling 866-924-6378.

Rock Stream Vineyards
Rock Stream Vineyard's owner/winemaker/distiller, Dr. Mark Karasz, will provide a personalized wine and/or spirits tasting while providing insight into the wine making and distillation processes. The tasting will include a brief tour of the bottling line and distillation apparatus. Please call in advance to make an appointment at 607-243-5395. Open daily from 10am-6pm.

Villa Bellangelo
Enjoy a free tour of the winemaking facility with a sample of 2013 vintage wines currently in production. Please call at least 48 hours in advance to make your necessary appointment at 607-243-8602.

Serenity Vineyards 
Featuring a different unreleased wine each month. Some of these wines may be in bottle and some may come from a barrel or tank sample. There is no fee, nor are reservations required, but this experience will only be available from 11am-3pm on each of the Winemaker Wednesdays.

Ventosa Vineyards-
Enjoy a personal tour of the winery, including barrel samples, guided by their award-winning winemaker, Jenna LaVita. Reservations are required, with the tour available any Winemaker Wednesday during their regular business hours 10am-5pm.
