About Us

We are off-the-beaten path, so you won’t find large crowds at Boundary Breaks.  You are welcome to come to taste our wines and enjoy the expansive, uninterrupted view of Seneca Lake.

Since we began planting vines in 2009, we have focused on the quality of our vineyards. We believe great wine is made in the vineyard, and our site near the shore on the east side of Seneca Lake is a gift that allows us to produce pristine, ripe fruit.

Since our first Rieslings were released in 2013, the majority have scored 90 points or higher in multiple wine publications. And we aim to keep them affordable. More than 2,500 Wine Club members receive 20% off and pay between $15 and $25 per bottle for these award-winning wines.

Boundary Breaks’ Rieslings have twice been named to Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s list of Top 100 Wines in the World. Today, we manage more than 40 acres of vines, the majority of which are Riesling. Recently, we have begun planting  Cabernet Franc, a grape that is well-suited to the Finger Lakes. In time, we expect Cab Franc to join Riesling as one of the signature varieties of this region.

We are also pet-friendly. We have a fenced-in dog run that guests are free to use while they are tasting.

Our Wines

We have committed ourselves to Riesling and Cabernet Franc. They are grape varieties that are perfect for the cool-climate of the Finger Lakes.

Why Riesling? Isn’t it a “sweet wine?” And aren’t sweet wines only for wine drinkers who don’t know any better?

Rieslings come in all styles, from bone-dry to luscious dessert wines. We make all styles, and in each case, we are aiming to make the best version of that style that we can.

Cabernet Franc is a classic “old world” grape variety. It is grown widely in Franc–both in Bordeaux and in the Loire River Valley.

It ripens well during the short growing season and also survives our cold winters. Like Riesling, Cab Franc is a food-friendly wine, pairing well with almost any foods.
