Fox Run Vineyards invites you to explore the complex flavors of Indian cuisine and Finger Lakes Riesling. It’s no secret how well Rieslings’ delicate flavors illuminate the rich Indian spices we all love. Learn, sip, and enjoy five courses paired with different Fox Run Rieslings, including selections from our extensive library of older vintages. Our chef and winemaking team will walk you through each course with a unique combination of cultural intrigue, tasting references and a little bit of food & wine science. This dinner will be held on April 19th at 6:30pm in our historic barrel room.

Course 1: Appetizer Duo
Smoked Pork Samosa – a twist on the classic samosa filling of fried onions, garlic, potatoes, green peas and spices with the added flavors of smoked pork shoulder. Roasted garlic & tamarind sauce.
Vegetable Fritter – quick fried shredded vegetable fritter with cumin & coriander spices. Smeared with lime & cilantro yogurt
Paired with: 2019 Reserve Riesling
Course 2: Soup
Mulligatawny – a classic meld of British & Indian cuisines in a soup with flavors of coconut milk, curry spice, toasted cashews, lentils & vegetables.
Paired with: 2023 Silvan Riesling & 2023 Dry Riesling
Course 3: Salad
Cucumber Tomato Salad – India’s most popular “everyday” refreshing salad combines pickled red onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, garlic, cilantro and lime dressing on crisp greens.
Paired with: 2019 Skyquake Riesling
Course 4: Curry
Malabar Fish Curry – a turmeric, ginger, green chili, tomato and coconut based curry with low heat spices with complex spice flavors. Quick seared Swordfish, is then slow cooked in the curry and topped with a drizzle of coconut oil, scallions, curry leaves, mustard seeds and leaf parsley. Served with Saffron Basmati rice
Paired with: 2009 Tierce Riesling & 2011 Reserve Riesling
Course 5: Sweet & Spice
“Gujiya” – a crispy mixed nut & apricot filled phyllo pastry baked in the shape of a snail shell. Flavored with a light cardamom rose water syrup. Vanilla sauce.
Paired with: 2023 Lake Dana Riesling
