FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CELEBRATE VALENTINE'S DAY WITH CHOCOLATE AND WINE

Why stop at merely buying a box of chocolates for a loved one, when instead you can share a romantic weekend together enjoying an array of chocolate paired perfectly with fine regional wines!

Watkins Glen, NY - The Seneca Lake Wine Trail is now selling tickets to its consistently popular Chocolate and Wine Weekend, taking place at 35 member wineries on Seneca Lake Saturday and Sunday, February 9 and 10, 2008.

Enjoy a self-guided tour around beautiful Seneca Lake. Pick up your gift item at your assigned starting winery then start sampling chocolates, or foods prepared with chocolate, creatively matched with appropriate wines.

Paul Thomas, executive director of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, stated "With the event's proximity to Valentine's Day, spending the weekend with a loved one, sampling wine and and extensive selection of chocolate and chocolate-themed dishes, there is no better way to show your love for your romantic partner than by enjoying this weekend-long event, together."

Not only is chocolate and red wine a tantalizing combination for its sensational taste, but research shows these foods also contain antioxidants which may be good for health. In September, 1996, The Lancet reported cocoa powder and chocolate contain a relatively high amount of phenolic compounds, which possess antioxidant properties. Further, they found the compounds possess properties that may be beneficial in reducing the risk for coronary heart disease. A 1.5 ounce chocolate bar contains about the same amount of total phenolic compounds as a 5-ounce serving of red wine, which has been associated with a reduced risk for coronary heart disease.

While the winter months can sometimes bring heavy snowfalls to Western New York State, the same temperature buffering effect provided by Seneca Lake that makes it a great place to grow grapes, simultaneously helps the region to oftentimes avoid the worst snowfalls.

TIME:  Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. also Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
PRICE: $25 per person. Designated Driver tickets available at $18. Tickets are limited.
